Living by the Sea – The Joys of Eastbourne on England’s South Coast

22-01-2024

Living in Eastbourne (as our entire Exclusively Team are lucky enough to do) has its perks – the top one (of course!) being able to take in breathtaking views of the sea either along the promenade or, when we are feeling a bit more energetic, via a romp across the South Downs with the dog.

Embracing the wonders of winter

Wrapping up warm and embracing the wildness of the elements in the coldest winter months is invigorating, and wondering at the power of nature can be spellbinding.

But it’s always good to know that during those very coldest months, Eastbourne, with its plethora of theatres, pubs, and grand hotels also has a wealth of options if you fancy something a little bit more genteel.

Just a few our favourite options for the colder months include:

For a nod to a bygone age, indulge in an afternoon tea at The Grand Hotel’s Palm Court – think refined finger-cut sandwiches and homemade cake – all whilst being serenaded live by a strings quartet. It’s the height of sophistication 🙂 (Sunday 28 Jan and Sunday 31 March).

The Stage Door – always a popular watering hole prior to visiting one our many theatres, has just introduced a new Jazz and Blues Jam night. Starting at 8pm these will take place on the third Thursday of every month.

Ever enjoyed a night at the theatre and wondered what goes on behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly – providing you, the audience with a seamless and enjoyable experience? Well now’s your chance to find out.  Running from 27 Jan to 20 April you will have the chance to Tea and Tour exploring all those areas usually off limits and finish up with a nice cuppa.

And we know we said we were offering you some indoor options but we couldn’t resist one outdoor one (We do live right on the South Downs after all!)  Wrap up warm for Star gazing at Beachy Head Story with the Eastbourne Astronomical Society. Do your best Patrick Moore impression and use the society’s telescopes to view the craters of the moon (27 Jan).

Make the most of the quieter months on the coast

With so much entertainment on tap it’s a good job we’ve got so many lovely holiday lets to choose from.  And even better, many of our properties are available for 3-night stays (up until end of March) rather than our usual weeklong minimum.

So there has never been a better time to treat yourself to a little trip to the sea – whether it be inside or out! Just visit exclusivelyeastbourne.co.uk to browse our selection. Each property has its own 3D tour so you know exactly what you are booking or telephone us on 01323 406090 where we are always happy to help with our honest advice and recommendations.
