With temperatures recently in the 30s why wouldn’t you want to hit the beach here in the UK? Especially when the value of the pound has fallen so much, meaning that that any international jaunt costs that bit more.
So it was interesting to read the Independent recently and their article on the most popular UK resorts – with Eastbourne riding high as the fourth most popular seaside destination.
Eastbourne was also one of the highest risers, up-and-coming seaside resorts in the report and captures the momentum from last year and the Telegraph’s piece on Eastbourne and the visitor boom in 2018.
I spent a few hours on my kayak yesterday evening, bobbing around trying to catch bass, but largely taking in the captivating views of the greenery along the Seven Sisters and Whitbread Hollow.
The new Pierre Victoire restaurant is taking shape at the Wish Tower, we’ve just had another fab week with the international pre-Wimbledon tennis tournament (with Eastbourne being signed off as an ATP tour destination for a further 10 years) and have the most packed calendar for events than ever before.
My clan are off to see Thriller Live tonight at the (thoroughly modernised) Congress Theatre and it’s one of many major productions to hit our stages this year.
The Tour of Sussex cycle race hits Beachy Head this weekend and we have the 999 Emergency Services display on the Western Lawns on Saturday and Sunday so I (sorry, my children) get to sit in a fire engine and try an inappropriately large hat on. So I think my lawn-cutting will have to wait.
